JOSÉ GUERRERO
BIO
José Guerrero nace en Granada (España) en 1979.
Diplomado en Arquitectura Técnica por la Universidad de Granada, en 2002 decide dejar su trabajo como Jefe de Producción en la constructora Ferrovial-Agromán para dedicarse profesionalmente a la fotografía. En 2005 recibe la beca ‘Joven Autor Andaluz’ de Caja San Fernando para el desarrollo del proyecto ‘Efímeros’. Desde entonces y hasta hoy, su trabajo ha sido becado y premiado en certámenes como el Purificación García (2008), Generaciones (2008), Iniciarte (2007 y 2010) y María José Jove e Imagenera (ambos en 2010).
En 2008 es artista residente en el Colegio de España en París, y en 2011 recibe la XIV Beca Manuel Rivera, con la que trabaja junto a Mark Klett en la Universidad Estatal de Arizona, EE.UU. Ha recibido encargos del Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Castilla y León y de la Fundación Banco Santander, y su obra ha sido expuesta, entre otras instituciones, en el Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo en Sevilla y en el Matadero y Tabacalera en Madrid. Gran parte de su trabajo ha sido desarrollado en España y Estados Unidos, y en ambos países, su obra forma parte de diversas colecciones públicas y privadas entre las que cabría destacar el Amon Carter Museum (Tejas) o el Center for Creative Photography (Arizona).
En 2015 es artista residente en la Academia de España en Roma, dónde desarrolla una nueva serie fotográfica titulada ‘Roma‘ además de primera obra audiovisual ‘Roma Tres Variacines’ en colaboración con el compositor Antonio Blanco. También ese año forma parte de la exposición ArtSituacions, comisariada por Vicente Todolí y María y Lorena Corral, que se expone en Villa Croce Génova, en Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Roma y en Matadero Madrid. En 2015 pudieron visitarse igualmente en Madrid dos exposiciones individuales de José Guerrero: After the Rainbow, en el Centro de Arte de Alcobendas, y Sierra Nevada en la galería F2.
Su trabajo más reciente 'ROMA' ha podido verse en una muestra individual en la galería Alarcón Criado en 2017.
BIO
José Guerrero was born in Granada (Spain) in 1979.
He has a degree in Technical Architecture from the University of Granada, and in 2002 he decides to leave his position as Head of Production at the Ferrovial construction company in order to devote himself professionally to photography. In 2005 he receives the "Young Andalusian Author" grant from the Caja San Fernando bank in order to carry out his project ‘Efímeros’ [Ephemerals]. Since then, and up until today, his work has received awards and prizes such as the Purificación García (2008), Generaciones (2008), Iniciarte (2007 and 2010), and María José Jove and Imagenera (both in 2010).
In 2008 he is artist in residence at the Colegio de España in París, and in 2011 he receives the XIV Manuel Rivera Award in order to work with Mark Klett at Arizona State University. He has received commissions from the Castile and Leon Museum of Contemporary Art and from the Santander Bank Foundation, and his work has been exhibited, among other institutions, at the Andalusian Centre for Contemporary Art in Seville and at the Madrid Matadero y Tabacalera. A large part of his work has been carried out in Spain and in the USA, and in both countries his work is has been acquired by several private and public collections, among which one should highlight the Amon Carter Museum (USA) and the Center for Creative Photography (USA).
In 2015-2016 he is artist in residfence at the Academy of Spain in Rome, where he carries out a series entitled ‘ROMA’ and his very first cinematographic work 'Roma 3 Variazioni' in collaboration with the composer Antonio Blanco. Over these same years he is a part of the exhibition ‘ArtSituacions II’, curated by Vicente Todolí, María and Lorena Corral, which was exhibited in Villa Croce (Genova), in the Rome Museum of Contemporary Art and at the Madrid Matadero. Also in 2015 it was possible to visit two solo exhibitions of his in Madrid: 'After the Rainbow', at the Alcobendas Arts Centre, and 'Sierra Nevada', at the F2 Gallery.
His most recent work ‘ROMA’ has been exhitited in a solo show at Alarcón Criado Gallery in 2017.
